Oxford Geek Night 9
This Wednesday, 22 October, sees the ninth Geek Night - our informal events for everyone working in, or just interested in, the webby side of things - at the Jericho Tavern in Oxford.
Following on from the musically themed OGN8, we've got two really exciting keynote talks from different aspects of online publishing. Jeremy Ruston of BT Osmosoft will show us the many uses of the open-source in-browser publishing system TiddlyWiki, while Adrian Hon of Six to Start will discuss Penguin's recent experiment in online storytelling, We Tell Stories.
There'll also be six quick-fire, five-minute "microslot" talks from local volunteers. These range from case studies of using Google Mail for business, to hacking domestic appliances and connecting them to the web. We've still got a microslot free, so if you'd like to present to an amiable, interested crowd then submit your idea here.
The OGNs are free entry: venue and organization is provided by Torchbox, and we've also got sponsorship from Google, Pearson and Moo. The atmosphere's always great and the talks fascinating.
If you're working in publishing, programming, design, or anything to do with the web or IT, you've no excuse to miss OGN9.
